Pilot/Escort Vehicle is
On 2-Lane Highways:
Width of 14'6" to 16' on single lane- 2 pilots minimum,
On multi-lane divided highways:
Width of 14'6" to 16'-1 pilots minimum
On All Highways:
Over 16' wide-2 pilots minimum
95' to 110' long-1 pilots minimum
Over 110' long-2 pilots minimum
Over 15'6" high-survey required
An escort, while performing the duties of escorting an over dimensional load, cannot perform other duties such as flagging or operating remote-controlled rear steering on the loaded vehicle.
Requirements for Pilot/Escort Vehicle
has passed new laws requiring the drivers of pilot cars and escort
vehicles to hold a current Minnesota State Patrol Certification.

Signs: "Wide Load" or "Long Load" sign shall be displayed on top of the escort vehicle. Minimum 12" x 60"; black letters (8” high; 1 1/8” stroke) on
yellow background. Signs shall not extend beyond the line of the fenders on the left side nor more than 6 inches beyond the fender line on the right side of the escort vehicles.
Lights: Single or dual amber light mounted at the top or sides of the sign (at least 5’ above road surface) shall flash at a rate of 60-90 flashes/minute;
may be disc or strobe type or rotating beacon; visible/readable from 500’. Must be lighted for nighttime travel.

PERMITS VALID FOR:
Single trip permits are valid for five (5) consecutive days.
Sunrise to sunset, during the summer months there is to be no movements from 2:00 p.m. on Friday to sunrise on Saturday, no movement is allowed from 2:00 p.m the day before the holiday or holiday weekend until sunrise the day after the holiday or holiday weekend on the following; New Year's day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas
Travel permitted Saturday all day and Sunday from sunrise to 12:00 noon, except no move after 2:00 p.m. every Friday beginning Memorial Day weekend thru the Friday after Labor Day as well as all other Holiday restrictions.

Loads of 140,000 lbs must submit drawings including axle weights and spacings, need to show which axle caster and show the pivot points.
